Wine, monasteries and traditional lifestyle

Wine, monasteries and traditional lifestyle

The excursion starts with the tour of one of the biggest wineries – Cricova. The tour includes visiting the streets of the 'underground city' such as "Chardonnay", "Traminer", "Feteasca", the wine shop, as well as the still wine and sparkling wine production factory.

After visiting the National Collection, the excursion is concluded with a tasting of 4 wines, paired with traditional Moldovan pie (plăcintă).

The excursion continues with the visit to one of the oldest monasteries – Curchi, which is considered to have one of the most outstanding architecture in Moldova.

On the way to Orheiul Vechi, you will make a stop at the rural pension "Casa din lunca" (The House in the Meadow), where you will serve lunch with traditional food and wine.

Visit to Orheiul Vechi – a unique, unrepeatable cave monastery (from the 18th century), carved into limestone cliff, which is a perfect fit to the picturesque landscape.

On the other bank, the ruins of the Geto-Dacian fortress may be seen. You will also visit the museum-house in the neighboring village – Butuceni, where you will see evidence of the traditional lifestyle of Moldovan peasants in the 19th century. Then you will return to Chisinau (about 100 km).
